ABOUT SHEIN
Shein It is a Chinese clothing sales website that was born in 2012 under the name Sheinside. Its founder Xu Yangtian does not grant interviews, for this reason we do not know the origins of the clothing website. According to writer Mathew Brennan, who specializes in Chinese technology, Xu began his career at a consulting firm doing SEO work, and later set up a wedding dress business. Xu is not only a visionary in the web fashion trade, before that he introduced innovations worldwide in the bridal fashion sector: Pronovias and Rosa Clará brought out low-cost lines to face the Chinese market.
SHEIN It is the most downloaded shopping application in 19 countries with Android and 62 countries with Apple. In the United Kingdom and the United States, it lost its position two weeks ago in favor of the giant Amazon.
Shein enjoys being the most visited website, above brands like Nike, Zara, H&M and ASOS. According to data from Similar Web, the Chinese clothing website had 152 million visits in the month of May. On the other hand, in 2020 Shein was the most mentioned brand on the video platform Tiktok and the fourth most commented on Instagram.
In less than 9 years, Shein has managed to surpass Inditex Online and become the leader in online sales in the world of Fast-fashion.
